Project Management Consultancy Services, Custom Clearance & Handling of Flexible & Umbilical Reels

Our Client, a fast-growing and independent E&P player in India, contributing 10,000 boe of products everyday to the nation, from 4 of the 7 producing basins in India, is developing a Marginal field – B80 – in Mumbai Offshore Basin. For this Project, they imported 4 nos. Heavy duty Flexible Reels from the supplier’s works at USA and UK. We were appointed as Project Management Consultants (PMC) for the critical job of Ship to Ship Transfer (STS) of these 4 Reels from the Heavy Lift Vessel to the DPDSV vessel that would ultimately lay the Reels offshore. We were also responsible for co-ordinating the smooth clearances / permissions from the statutory authorities for this STS. The Custom clearance of the Reels including their coastal clearance was also in our scope, besides intercarting of a 50T Umbilical Reel that was already stored in the Port, and loading it on a supply vessel.  

The Ship to Ship Transfer of the 4 nos. Heavy duty Flexible Reels weighing between 178MT to 208MT each was executed safely from the Heavy Lift Vessel “MV Caroline” onto DPDSV “Lichtenstein” at 2 ID in Mumbai Port. Subsequently, the Flexible Reels were custom cleared by us well within the agreed time lines and the Reels were despatched to Offshore for their on schedule laying operations. We also loaded the 50T Umbilical Reel alongwith its accessories from its storage area inside Mumbai Port on Trailers and transported them to 12 ID. Using a 250T Lattice Boom Tyre mounted Crane, we loaded them safely on the supply vessel “SCI Mukta” for further despatch to the field. We also supplied our 300T capacity Heavy duty Steel stools to the Client on rental basis for supporting their Offshore operations.

We hope that the Reel laying operations are completed safely and as per schedule at Offshore and look forward to getting similar challenging opportunities in future.
